A chewy white head on top a light-orange body with nice carbonation and lots of lacing left on the glass.
The nose is full of barnyard smells with a faint hint of lemon and grass.
Also very apparent in the nose and taste is notes of vinegar.
The taste is also full of tart sour notes.
As you drink this beer your cheeks pucker and it has a very refreshing feel to it.
A very nice and complex beer that would lend itself to a hot summer's day.
Highly recommended gueuze.

Champagne of the Valley of the Zenne

The Hanssens family is in the business of geuze blending since 1896.
Hanssens Artisanaal Oude Geuze is the result of blending different lambics of different ages.
Maturation in oak barrels.

Oude Geuze is made of one hundred percent lambic beer, which undergoes an additional fermentation in the bottle resulting in the natural formation of foam and carbon dioxide.
This second fermentation takes place inside the bottles and are stored for a minimum of six months in constant temperature kept cellars. Bottles are champagne corked.

Hanssens is an artisanal Gueuze-brewer, the last fully independant Gueuze-brewer left in the world !!
