A light red-brown coloured lambic with no head or carbonation.
Aroma of strawberries, and a faint mustiness. Taste starts out sweet on the tongue then turns dry, tart and refreshing.
Oudbeitje is a complex and delicious lambic. The interplay of sweet fruitiness and lactic tartness teases the palate in a superb way.

Champagne of the Valley of the Zenne

The Hanssens family is in the business of geuze blending since 1896.
This unique, refreshing beer appetizer is the result of amalgamating fresh strawberries with lambic during summer. They mature throughout the winter season in oak barrels. In spring, the strawberry lambic is bottled. In order to fully enjoy the taste and flavour of this appetizer, it is recommended to consume it within one year of bottling.

Due to the typical characteristics of the fruit, the strawberry lambic is changing rapidly into a geuze lambic. Therefore, opposed to geuze or kriek, no blend is made of different aged lambics resulting in a lesser second fermentation and less carbon dioxide.

Oude Geuze and Oude Kriek are as well very good appetizers and should be served with a cellar temperature.
Bottles are champagne corked.
Oudbeitje is recommended to serve ice-chilled in a champagne glass.
