Cantillon Cuvée Vigneronne, a druiven-lambic (grape-lambic) is made from blending 2yr old Cantillon Lambic with Italian Muscat grapes.

Tasting Note :

The corked bottle pours a spritzy bright body into the wine glass. No head and flat with very little lacing.
A tart and sour grape smell tinkles the nose. Once the initial tartness of the first swell fades a bit, I sense muscat grapes and green apple skin. Medium bodied.
The sourness and crispiness is taken to a higher level on the mid palet.
The dryness in the finish is everlasting and bites your cheeks.

The Vignéronne finds its origin in the valley of the Yse, where lambic brewers from the villages of Hoeilaart, Overijse an Huldenberg brewed a delicious lambic made with local white grapes.

By blending muscat grapes and lambic, the brewers and beer merchants produced the druivenlambik (grapes-lambic).

Nowadays, Cantillon Brewery uses Italian Muscat grapes to produce its Vigneronne.
The brewery obtains the white grapes at the end of the season, which by then are as mature and as sweet as possible.
This name reminds us that, while it belongs to the beer patrimony, the spontaneous fermentation, the ageing in the barrels for several years and the addition of grapes make it a distant cousin of certain white wines.
