'Heavenly nectar within reach'
Corked bottle. The absolute top quality in the hierarchy of the Sint Bernardus beers and the showpiece of the brewery.
A dark ivory coloured body with a thick and dense beige head. Excellent head retention and nice lacing present.
The nose has a lovely mixture of dark malts, almonds, raisins and yeast. This beer is bursting with sofisticated aromas !
Very rich, already...
The taste is full to say the least, roasted malts, sweet plums, toffee, dried candied fruit and dusty yeast. Moderate carbonation and in all, a well-balanced sweetness. The 10.5 % shorly is there , but is not a disturbing factor.
In fact, the richness and complexity kind of needs the warmth of the alcohol. Smooth and powerful. This one really is 'heaven in a bottle'.
Water, pumped up from a depth of 150 meter is the basis of all Sint Bernardus beers. This water is not only the purest but has also a historical background.
Scientists have proved that the water that is pumped up now, is originating from rainfall from the time of Jeanne d'Arc.
