A solid rich brown ale with a thick frothy and lasting beige head.
The aroma is fairly sweet and has the richness of sweet walnuts, creamy malts and grapes. The subtle sweet flavours of forest fruits, like prunes and figs, mixed with light touches of chocolate syrup and roasted malts gives this brew a nice complexity.
Cacao and chocolate bitterness towards the finish.

The aftertaste is amazingly dry and longlasting for all that sweetness before !

The beers of Pater Lieven take their name from their home town of Sint-Lievens-Esse, which is in East-Flanders, a small village in the so-called Flemish Ardennes, south of Ghent.

The beers are brewed in a 19th century brewhouse and is located on the village square. The beers were made for the 1st time in 1957 to celebrate the local patron Saint-Livinus.
