Nice deep brown to reddish colour with a huge frothy beige head.
An impressive and aromatic nose of apricotes, sweet cherries, thick caramel and toasted malts. Tastes like tawny port, Belgian chocolate and dark fruits. The wonderful range of flavours continue with caramel malts and brown sugar. The full-bodiness needs the 9 % alcohol to back everything up. Very well balanced with a certain fruitiness to the end.
This is a deep and extremely mature beer to be classed among the great ones on Belgian soil. Topfermentation.
